Park Hotel Colle degli Angeli is a brand new resort located in the beech and chestnut woods of the Upper Maremma in Tuscany, close by the medieval town of Arcidosso. In a radius of 50 km are some of the most beautiful locations of the entire Tuscany region: the sea and beaches of the Argentario and of Castiglion della Pescaia; the art and history of Montalcino, Pienza, Chiusi and of lake Bolsena. A Nordic walking instructor can take guests on an excursion to the Gompa of the Merigar Tibetan centre, a key Dzog Chen centre in Europe, located in the Monte Labro natural reserve. At the top of the mountain there is the famous Tower made by Davide Lazzaretti, the man known as the "Prophet of the Amiata." Highly recommended to contemporary art lovers are the Daniel Spoerri Garden, founded in 1992, where works by renowned international artists are exhibited in a park of eight hectares; and the Potentino Castle. Not to be missed is, of course, Santa Fiora, the town known as the “Amiata’s lounge.” Dante mentions it in the Canto XI of the Purgatorio. Key figures in the history of this town were the Aldobrandeschi, one of the most powerful Ghibelline families in medieval times. Definitely worth a visit is also the local parish church, which hosts the famous glass ceramics by Luca and Andrea Robbia. With the fall of the Aldobrandeschi family, the town slipped into a state of lethargy to the extent that we can admire it today as it was 500 years ago.
