Christmas market in Italy


Christmas! As each year comes back with all its warmth and flavor of our traditions. Ancient traditions.
Traditions that come from our origins and others that come from foreign countries. Of all the appointments that Christmas brings with it a special place, next to the Tree and to our Nativity, have the Christmas markets.
That of the Christmas Market is a tradition that comes from Northern Europe. There is evidence of this custom already in 1434 in Dresden, Germany. Some time in Italy the presence of the Christmas markets has become a key component of the festive season.
Craft fairs, local and non-crowd the main squares of many cities and towns with their giving light and color and an unmistakable touch, now, indispensable.

If the Christmas markets are now, what about a traditional event tree and the Nativity?

The fir tree is decorated, everywhere, Christmas. Even the tree tradition comes to us from the countries of Northern Europe. The legends tell us of ancient Germanic peoples celebrating the arrival of winter in front of their homes by planting a fir tree decorated with garlands.
Throughout the Italian, however, the tradition of the crib. The realistic depiction of the Nativity is attributed to St. Francis of Assisi and is dated 1223. It was only in the fifteenth century, however, that the Kingdom of Naples spread the custom of dedicating, in churches, a corner dedicated to the Nativity.
Three schools in Italy are recognized as the most important in the tradition crib:
• The Sicilian school
• The school Neapolitan
• The Roman School
